Gastrin 17 (G17)
Gastrin 17 (G17) antibody raw material for immunoassay development, reagent screening and rapid-test optimization. Source: Mouse; application: Gastric Mucosal Dysfunction / Atrophic Gastritis Risk Assessment.
Background
Gastrin 17 is secreted only by G cell in gastric antrum, it is an important index in reflecting the condition of gastric mucosal lesion. It will produce biological effect through a series of signal transduction after combining to cholecystokinin receptor, CCKR. It stimulates gastric acid secretion and nourishing gastrointestinal mucosa. Recent research shows that G-17 could also promote cell proliferation and suppress its apoptosis. As a indicator of secretion function of gastric mocosa, it is used in early stage of gastric cancer diagnosis along with marker of epsinogenⅠ、pepsinogenⅡ and their ratios.
Clinical Significance
G17 is a sensitive index that reflect the gastric secretion function. It takes an important role in atrophic gastritis and gastric cancer diagnosis. G17 test helps to determine the atrophic existence, its level and distribution. When gastric body atrophies, oxyntic gland secretion reduces and there’s low acid level in stomach, which will increase the level of G17 in serum. When the antrum atropies, the amount of G cell will decline and the level of G17 will decrease in serum. Patients whose total gastric atrophy (multifocal atrophic) will decrease the level of G1. Most academics regard concentration less than 1pmmol/L of G17 as the cut-off value to determine the antrum atrophic gastritis.
Recent research confirms that gastric cancer patients have certain degree of hypergastrinemia, which influence in growth of cancer cell and its vicious transformation. G17 can accelerate the gastric cancer progress caused by other high-risk factors(such as HP infection), promoting the proliferation and duplication of gastric cancer cell and its infiltration and transfer. What’s more, it can inhibit the apoptosis of the cancer cells. Therefore, G17 become a important index of early gastric cancer.
