Hepatitis D Virus (HDV)

HDV reagents support serological assay development for hepatitis D virus infection, which occurs in association with HBV. Recombinant DV42 antigen is available for EIA and lateral-flow coating/labeling applications.

Product: Hepatitis D Virus (HDV)

Background

Viral hepatitis type D is an acute and chronic inflammatory disease caused by the hepatitis D virus (HDV).

HDV is a defective virus and can only be found in hbv-infected people and some animals with positive surface antigen of hepatotropic DNA virus.

The clinical manifestations of hepatitis d depend to some extent on the concomitant HBV infection status.

Clinical Significance

Acute hepatitis d refers to simultaneous infection of HDV/HBV.

The incubation period is 4 to 20 weeks.

Clinical expression and biochemical feature are similar with pure acute hepatitis b, can have lack of power, appetite, icterus and liver are swollen painful wait.

Some patients had two peaks of transaminase.

Due to the short duration of acute hepatitis b HBHBV, HDV infection is often terminated with the disappearance of HBV. Therefore, the intrahepatic HDAg is only temporarily positive, the serum anti-hdigm shows a low titer, and then the secondary anti-hdigg appears.

Concurrent HDV/HBV infection has a good prognosis in most cases, and the risk of developing chronic hepatitis is no higher than that of simple HBV infection. A few patients may also develop severe hepatitis.

Product Parameters

Market capacity is limited, serum is little, without clinical data.
