Influenza A & B Antigen Rapid Test Uncut Sheet
Influenza A and B (FLU A&B) Test Kit is a rapid and convenient immunochromatographic assay for the qualitative detection of Influenza Type A and B nucleoproteins antigens from nasal swab or nasopharyngeal swab obtained from patient with signs and symptoms of respiratory infection. The device is designed to aid in the rapid differential diagnosis of influenza A and B viral infection.
Product Overview
Influenza A and B (FLU A&B) Test Kit is a rapid and convenient immunochromatographic assay for the qualitative detection of Influenza Type A and B nucleoproteins antigens from nasal swab or nasopharyngeal swab obtained from patient with signs and symptoms of respiratory infection. The device is designed to aid in the rapid differential diagnosis of influenza A and B viral infection.
This assay provides only a preliminary result. The test is not intended to detect influenza C antigens. Negative results should be confirmed by viral culture; they do not preclude influenza virus infection and should not be used as the sole basis for treatment or other management decisions. The test is intended for professional and laboratory use.

Summary and Explanation
Influenza is a highly contagious acute viral infection of the respiratory tract. It is a communicable disease easily transmitted from person to person through aerosol droplets excreted when sneezing and coughing. Common symptoms include high fever, chills, headache, cough, sore throat and malaise. The type A influenza virus is more prevalent and is the primary pathogen associated with serious epidemics. The type B virus causes a disease that is generally not as severe as that caused by the type A virus. Both type A and B viruses can circulate simultaneously, but usually one type is dominant during a given season.
Early differential diagnosis of influenza type A or type B can allow for proper treatment with appropriate antiviral therapy while reducing the incidence of inappropriate treatment with antibiotics. Early diagnosis and treatment is of particular value in a clinical setting where accurate diagnosis can assist the health care professional with management of influenza patients who are at risk for complications. Flu A & B is a rapid immunoassay to be used as an aid for the differential diagnosis of influenza type A and type B.
Test Procedure
1. Open the foil pouch package and take out the test cassette.
2. Place the extraction tube on the workbench. The swab extractor bottle is pressed vertically downward to allow the solution to drip freely into the extractor tube without touching the edge of the tube. Add 6 drops (approximately 200ul) of extraction buffer to the extraction tube.
3. Put the swab specimen into the extraction tube, rotate the swab for about 10 times, and press the swab head against the tube wall to release the antigen in the swab. Squeeze the swab over the head to remove the swab so as to remove as much liquid as possible from the swab. Dispose of swabs according to biohazard waste disposal method.
4. Install the dropper cap on the extraction tube and leave for 1 minute, then put two to three drops into the specimen hole of the test card, start the timer.
5. Read the results at 15 minutes, and the results after 20 minutes are no longer valid.
Result Interpretation
Negative result: if there is only a quality control line C, the detection line is colorless, indicating that FLU A+B antigen has not been detected and the result is negative.
Positive result: if both the quality control line C and the detection line A appear, influenza A virus or influenza B virus antigen has been detected and the result is positive for antigen; if both the quality control line C and the detection line B appear, influenza B virus antigen has been detected and the result is positive for antigen. if all the quality control line C, the detection line A and the detection line B appear, influenza A virus and influenza B virus antigen have been detected and the result is positive for antigen.
Invalid result: if the quality control line C is not observed, it will be invalid regardless of whether there is detection line, and the test shall be conducted again.
