Luteinizing Hormone (LH) Antibody & Antigen

Luteinizing Hormone (LH) is a reproductive hormone used in fertility, ovulation and gonadal-function testing. Multiple monoclonal antibodies targeting LH are available for EIA and lateral-flow coating/labeling applications. In addition to the monoclonal antibodies, an E. coli-expressed LH antigen is included in the available raw-material set.

Product: Luteinizing Hormone (LH) Antibody & Antigen

Background

Luteinizing hormone (LH) is a glycoprotein gonadotropin secreted by adenohypophysis cells that promotes the conversion of cholesterol into sex hormones in gonadal cells.

For women, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) acts together to promote follicular maturation, secrete estrogen, ovulation, and the production and maintenance of the corpus luteum, and secrete progesterone and estrogen.

For men, luteinizing hormone production facilitates the synthesis and release of testosterone by testicular stromal cells.

Clinical Significance

1. Combined detection of serum LH and FSH: for women, it is mainly used to distinguish primary (ovarian) amenorrhea from secondary (pituitary) amenorrhea, in which serum LH is decreased.

For men, it is used to distinguish primary testicular dysfunction from secondary testicular dysfunction.

2. Serum LH test can identify prepubertal children with true or false precocious puberty.

3. The occurrence of LH peak in the menstrual cycle indicates the ovary ovulation within 24 to 36 hours. Therefore, monitoring the serum LH peak in the middle of menstruation can determine the best time for conception.

4. Increased serum LH is found in polycystic ovary syndrome (persistent anovulation and excess androgens, etc.), Turner syndrome, primary hypogonadism, premature ovarian failure, post-ovary resection, and menopausal syndrome or postmenopausal women.

5.LH also decreased after long-term use of birth control pills and hormone replacement therapy.

Product Parameters

The main problem is the cross-reaction, cross-reaction with HCG, the cell line is easy to change.
