Myeloperoxidase (MPO) Antibody & Antigen
Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is an inflammatory and cardiovascular biomarker associated with activated neutrophils and vascular inflammation. Paired monoclonal antibodies are available for EIA and lateral-flow coating/labeling applications. In addition to the monoclonal antibodies, an E. coli-expressed MPO antigen is included in the available raw-material set.
Background
Myeloperoxidase (MPO), also known as peroxidase, is a member of the heme superfamily.
Exists in myeloid cells, (mainly neutrophils and monocytes) of aniline blue particles, they are symbols of the specificity of myeloid cells. With the deepening of the research on MPO, MPO gene polymorphism has been found to cause the individual to some differences in disease susceptibility, closely related with the occurrence and development of human diseases. Thus, it gets more and more attention of scholars both at home and abroad.
Clinical Significance
1..MPO is involved in all stages of atherosclerosis and plaque development in blood vessels.
2. It leads to endothelial cell functional damage and promote plaque formation.
3. It causes plaque instability, which leads to thinning of fibrous cap, plaque rupture and thrombosis.
4. A large number of literature data show that MPO can be used as a predictor of coronary artery disease and acute coronary syndrome prognostic indicators: elevated MPO exist coronary artery in patients with inflammatory, plaque instability, but not completely blocked blood vessels, which does not cause myocardial necrosis. With early identification of unstable plaque, MPO is one of the inflammatory markers in early diagnosis of ACS.
5. MPO, as a new inflammatory marker for the prediction of ACS, can identify the risk of future adverse cardiovascular events in patients with cardiac troponin T(cTnT) negative ACS.
6. Foreign literature indicates that the baseline level of MPO can independently predict the risk of adverse cardiac events (myocardial infarction, re-infarction, vascular remodeling or death) in the next 30 days to 6 months.
7. MPO can recognize patients with poor prognosis of ACS with low levels of c-reactive protein (CRP negative).
8. It can predict the future risk of cardiovascular disease in healthy people over 35 years old
MPO is independent from c-reactive protein and other inflammatory markers in determining a healthy person's future risk of cardiovascular disease.
A study published in the prestigious New England journal of medicine in 2003 shows that by measuring MPO levels in 604 patients with chest pain, it can predict the likelihood of cardiovascular events over 30 days to six months.
When cTnT was tested alone, only 54% of patients were predicted, while the probability of predicting with MPO increased to 84.5%.
