Syphilis (Treponema pallidum) Antibody & Antigen
Syphilis (Treponema pallidum) antibody and antigen raw materials for immunoassay development, reagent screening and rapid-test optimization. Source: Mouse (Antibody) / E. coli (Antigen); application: Syphilis.
Background
Syphilis is a unique human disease, dominant and recessive syphilis patients are the source of infection, infected with syphilis skin lesions and secretions, blood contains treponema pallidum. The first two years after infection are the most infectious, and after four years sexually transmitted infections significantly reduced. Treponema pallidum can be transmitted to the fetus through the placenta. Pregnant women with early syphilis are at great risk of transmission to the fetus.
Clinical Significance
After affected by syphilis, IgM antibody appears first, and IgG antibody appears later and slowly increases as the disease progresses. After effective treatment, IgM antibody disappeared, while IgG antibody persisted. Tp-igm antibody cannot pass through the placenta, and if the infant is positive for tp-igm, it means that the infant has been infected. Therefore, tp-igm antibody test is of great significance for the diagnosis of fetal syphilis in the infant.
