TRF
TRF raw materials support renal-function assay development using transferrin as a urinary or serum biomarker. Paired monoclonal antibodies are available for EIA and lateral-flow coating/labeling applications.
Background
TRF’s molecular weight is about 77kD with 7-days half-life period . It is a single strand glycoprotein which contains about 6% saccharide. TRF bind multivalent ions, but reversibly, such as iron, copper, zinc, cobalt, etc. Each molecular of TRF can bind with two Fe(III). The liver is the main sit of TRF synthesis. Irons assimilated by the digestive tract and irons released by red blood cells can be loaded by TRF.TRF transport the free irons between tissues of its absorption, storage and consumption. The concentration of TRF in blood plasma is affected by iron supply, an increased TRF level is often seen in a iron deficiency state. TRF will be is back to normal level when the patient is effectively treated by iron.
Clinical Significance
1.Normal reference value of TRF level in an adult’s serum is 2200-4000mg/L, in infant is 1300-2750mg/L, in people over age 60 is 1800-3800mg/L.
2.TRF is used in anemia’s diagnosis and monitoring treatment.
3.TRF will decreased along with albumin and pro-protein in response to an acute inflammation or malignant lesions.
4.TRF decreased in patients who have nephrotic syndrome, malnutrition or CLD (chronic liver disease), so it can serve as nutritional status index.
5.Gestation, oral contraceptive or estrogen injection will increase TRF.
6.To predict gastrointestinal disease: It bypass the disadvantage of hemoglobin degradation that may be occurred in the fecal occult blood experiment since gastric acid and bacteria digestion. Joint testss of TRF with FOB rapid test will improve the clinical coincidence rate.
Product Parameters
With FOB joint inspection, all kinds of performance and FOB similar.
